Pestpoint app for iPhone and iPad

Pestpoint harnesses the power of crowd sourcing for pest identification on the move. It provides a secure web-space where on-line communities can create private networks in which members share images and knowledge to identify damaging plant pests. Pestpoint documents the diagnostic conversation along with location, time, host-plant and collector information and stores it in a searchable database. In addition to enquiring about diagnostic images, Pestpoint can quickly record the field presence of multiple pests on hosts of interest from tailored target lists.

TRAINING

Pestpoint provides a training platform for specialists to help less experienced network members learn the identifying features of pest species and to take photos that can help diagnosticians make an accurate diagnosis.

REGISTERING

Pestpoint consists of complementary web and app software and is free for registered users. Use is currently restricted to collaborators within the Plant Biosecurity CRC. Users must obtain a token from the Plant Biosecurity CRC and register via the Pestpoint web pages on http://www.pestpoint.org.au or http://www.pestpoint.org.asia before downloading the app.
